ODU Faculty and Staff Donations
Virginia Social Ventures is grateful to have the support of President Roseann Runte, Provost Thomas Isenhour, and the Deans of each of ODU’s schools and colleges as we kick off an expanded VSV-ODU partnership – administered in collaboration with ODU’s Recycling Program. Increasing donations of academic and text books will support the growth of VSV’s Spotlight Books job training program for difficult-to-employ individuals.
Donated books are sold at Spotlight Books, a nonprofit social venture where trainees learn computer and business skills, while all proceeds go to support the training, employment, and services that the program provides. Read more about Spotlight Books elsewhere on this website.
Effective August 2007, members of the Recycling Program staff will pick up donated books for VSV/Spotlight Books from clearly marked cartons. Cartons are available in every school and college, generally located in departmental mailrooms. Faculty and staff need only deposit their book donations in the carton, and recycling staff will later pick up the books for delivery to the Spotlight Books training facility.
Uncertain about where to find a Donation Carton? Please inquire of your department administrator or your dean’s office to determine the closest location to you.
Donations of Movies and Music: Spotlight Books also sells CDs, DVDs, VHS videos, and audio books, and we welcome these donations. Feel free to leave these items in the carton along with your book donations.
Large Donations: If you have more books to donate than will fit in the carton, simply call Spotlight Books at 623-1119 to arrange for a pick-up from your home or office.
Tax Receipts: Donations receipts for your tax records are available in a clearly marked VSV Kraft envelope located in each departmental office.
Questions: Call the Virginia Social Ventures office at 623-1119 or check out the rest of this website. We’ll be happy to help with any questions.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
THE ODU PARTNERSHIP IS VERY IMPORTANT TO

Our thanks to Atlantic Corrugated Box Company for the donation of the collection cartons.
