The Organization

Virginia Social Ventures is a nonprofit organization that uses social entrepreneurship and supportive services to help people with significant employment barriers succeed in the world of work.

The purpose of VSV is to develop social enterprises that train and employ homeless and very low-income people. Social enterprises are real businesses that save the public money by producing income to leverage community funding for social programs. They provide hands-on training in a real-world environment.

• VSV prepares trainees for regular employment by improving their dependability and professionalism.
• VSV provides support services to address complex problems that might otherwise prevent trainees from succeeding in the work world.
• VSV helps program graduates find regular employment.
• VSV works with graduates until they have maintained steady employment for at least one year.
• VSV devotes 100% of its business income to supporting training, employment, and services.
